I had a great time talking to people at the Natreum Happy Hour on Thursday at the Wilderness. And it was incredible to see the long line of hemp-derived beverages made in Minnesota snaking around the bar.

Then, yesterday my law partner James, our Head of Criminal Defense, and I gave a continuing legal education seminar to 347 (!) attendees (mostly lawyers) through Hennepin County Law Library, with 20 minutes of rapid-fire Q&A. People are hungry for information about the cannabis law and industry.

If you have the opportunity to pass my name to entrepreneurs and businesses exploring getting into this space, or folks seeking help with expungement of cannabis records (which is an area of James' expertise), we would be grateful! I'm also willing to come speak to groups large and small.

The brief registration required of all businesses selling hemp-derived cannabis is now available from the state here. It is due October 1, 2023.

The Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) held a webinar on Wednesday to give updates on formation of the OCM and their planned timeline for rulemaking and applications. TL:DR: We are still 12-18 months from licensed dispensaries, but OCM is planning on lots of public input and is pushing out information through their website. Gov. Walz is expected to appoint a director of OCM in early September, so stay tuned for more!
